Letter of Credit Processing (LC)The use of the letters of credit as a tool to reduce risk has grown substantially over the past decade. Letters of credit accomplish their purpose by substituting the credit of the bank for that of the customer, for the purpose of facilitating trade.
However, Letters of credit are about documents and not facts; the inability to produce a given document at the right time can nullify the letter of credit. If not nullify, it can definitely cause delays. Thus, the earlier in the process the letter of credit is examined, the more time is available to identify and fix the problem.
